Internship Organizations - English

I knew I wanted to do an internship abroad, but going abroad alone can be quite daunting. Luckily, in many countries, there are internship organizations that bring students together, organize trips, provide tips & tricks about the country, find internship companies for you, arrange housing, etc. This was truly my saving grace. Even though I know it’s possible to go without such help, it’s so much more enjoyable to connect with one of these organizations.

It saved me a lot of work, especially during the preparation stage. Finding accommodation remotely can be really challenging, and I didn’t have to worry about it at all. I also received advice on which vaccinations were and weren’t necessary. But the best part was the trips. Here, I got to meet other interns, which was nice because we were all away for half a year and could do a lot together. We could explore the country together and help each other with school-related things.

The internship organization I’m with is called Young Professional Internships (YPI) in Bali. Even if you’re headed to a different destination, these types of organizations are available. The best way to discover them is by searching on Google, Instagram, and Facebook. You can also ask alumni who have already interned in your destination of choice. Don’t know any alumni? Then email Hanze’s International Internship Office or your program’s internship coordinators to get in touch with them. Reading reviews and asking questions to these organizations can also help. This way, you can make the best choice!

Tip: If you’re going to a relatively small location, like Bali, Curaçao, Malta, or Valencia, it’s smart to choose the largest organization. That way, you’ll meet the most students and have the most trips. 🎉🎉🎉
